Shanghai Botanical Garden , located at 1100 Longwu Road, covers an area of 81 hectares. It is a peaceful oasis on the southwest outskirts of Shanghai and a great get – away from downtown noise and dust.
Entering the garden, visitors can travel to several venues including the new conservatory. The garden consists of a plant evolution area, an environmental protection area, a bonsai area, a Chinese medicinal herbs area, an orchid chamber, peony zone, an exhibition greenhouse, a plant exhibition hall, a greenery model area as well as various plants, such as pine and cypresses, chrysanthemum, rose, maples, osmanthus, tulips, bamboo, orchids and peony. A ramble around the well –marked paths helps you view hundreds of species of plants and trees.
Bright spots of color are added throughout the grounds by plots of fall flowers. Over 3,000 species of plants are preserved in the garden, which is slated to become the Shanghai Plant Museum.
The No. 2 greenhouse is a new aluminum-glass framed structure. The building is 5,000 square meters and 32 meters tall, and hosts about 3,500 kinds of tropical areas such as Xishuangbanna of Yunnan and Hainan provinces of China.
